According to the overall score obtained during the admission process, you are awarded a rank on the list of excellence in the category in which you have been ranked. For example, you are 35 th  on the list of excellence in the category of baccalauréat holders in the preparatory year. There are 30 places available for this category and the first 30 candidates on the list of excellence receive an offer of admission at first. You are then informed that you are 5th  on the waiting list. If candidates refuse the offer made to them, places are vacated and new offers are made to candidates on the waiting list taking into account the ranks on this list. At the 5th  discontinuance, you are offered a place. The number of applicants who do not accept an offer of admission varies from year to year and from category to category as you can see from the statistical data in the toggleleau of question 8 below . Starting June 15, you can see the rank of the last person on the waiting list who received an offer of admission, in each category, by following the  on-line application  tracking .

It should be noted that there is only one list of excellence , and therefore  one waiting list , per category of candidates for admission to the Medical Studies Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal because it is the same program that is offered at two sites, one in Montréal and the other in Mauricie. The preferred choice of a training site does not affect your rank on the list of excellence.

8. What are my chances of being admitted to medicine if I am on the waiting list?
   
NB: Numbers in parentheses indicate the number of candidates registered on the campus in Mauricie.

Your rank on the waiting list is of prime importance. For the rest, it all depends on the number of candidates higher ranked than you on the list of excellence who will desist, which is for all intents and purposes  unpredictable . For information purposes, the following five-year statistics on the number of eligible applications received, candidates invited for interviews, admission offers and listings (accepted offers) by main categories of candidates in the regular contingent. The least that can be said is that it is very difficult to predict in advance the number of discontinuations (difference between offers and registrations) and especially their pace. Some candidates on the waiting lists receive an offer of admission only in August.

How do we interpret these tables to know who is the last candidate to be admitted? We take the number of offers - (less) the number of registrations?
Example: At UDM last year, he had 404 offers for 161 (32) registrations. So the waiting list goes up to 211?  404-193=211

Last year, for college students, there were 157 people on the waiting list,

They made 152 offers on the waiting list for college students

If in total they made 404 offers, it means that the first waves of offers was 247 offers!   404-247=157

The first wave, they make more offers than place because they know that many are discontinuing
